Why I Became a Mortgage Associate
I became a mortgage associate in 2002 after being declined by my banker of ten years. I was hoping to buy a rental property at that time and had a great well paying job, excellent credit and high personal net worth. So why was I declined?
Knowing what I know now, the only reason that I was declined was due to an inept and inexperienced personal loans officer. I could not have been an easier client. As a result of being declined, a friend introduced me to his mortgage associate. I enjoyed the experience so much (I was immediately approved and the associate laughed all the way to the bank) that I decided to become one. My experiences in how I was handled by my own bank taught me how not to run my own business.
- I was an assistant coach for community hockey for 9 years with the Crowchild Hockey Association. I really enjoyed coaching the kids and seeing them develop a real love for the game.
- I help with the local Scenic Acres Community Association as a volunteer at most community events ( Stampede Breakfast, Christmas party, etc ) and I help flood our local ice rink.
- I coached kids in soccer with the Calgary West Soccer Association for several years.
